Title: Shot Me in the Heart
Pairing: Tao/Lu Han
Word Count: 1,039
Summary: Tao and Lu Han get couple piercings. Lu Han is totally not scared.
In retrospect, maybe Lu Han shouldn't have said he was thinking about getting his cartilage pierced- at least not in front of Zitao- because as soon as he'd so much as mentioned it, Zitao had jumped on it and enthusiastically encouraged Lu Han to do it.
“I'll get one if you do,” Zitao had said, shortly followed by, “Oh! It could be like a couple thing! Let's get couple piercings!”
And of course he wouldn't shut up about it after that.
Lu Han already had a piercing, but that was in the lobe of his ear. And he hadn't even been super comfortable getting that one, let alone one in his cartilage that he knew would hurt a lot more. But now that Zitao had latched onto the idea, it was unlikely that he'd let it go.
And so, due to Zitao's enthusiasm, Lu Han was persuaded and found himself entering a piercing shop behind his boyfriend the following Saturday.
Typically, Lu Han was the one take charge of most situations since he was older than Zitao. When they entered a restaurant, he'd ask for a table for two. Often times, he'd even order for Zitao or ask where the bathroom was on his behalf. Not because Zitao was incapable, or even because Zitao expected it, but just because that was the type of person Lu Han was, especially when he was dating someone.
However, that day, Lu Han was happy to hang back as Zitao talked to the woman behind the counter, telling her that they both wanted their cartilage pierced. She led them over to a spread of stud earrings and told them to choose which ones they wanted.
“What do you think?” Zitao asked, holding up a black stud and a silver stud for Lu Han to see, “Which one do you like better? I can't decide.”
Lu Han cleared his throat, trying to keep the nervous shake out of his voice, “Silver.”
Zitao beamed, putting the black stud back and admiring the silver earring that he held between his index finger and thumb.
“Which one do you want?”
Lu Han had been passively surveying the earring while Zitao looked and he reached out for a simple gold stud.
“This one is good.”
“I like it,” Zitao told him happily, passing the two earrings over to the woman and following her to a stool on the other side of the shop.
“Do you want me to go first?” Zitao asked, knowing that Lu Han was a little uneasy given that this would be his first cartilage piercing while it was going to be Zitao's tenth or something.
Lu Han shrugged like it was no big deal, not wanting anyone to know that his insides were squirming around anxiously as he eyed the needle the woman was coating with petroleum jelly.
Zitao shot him a knowing look, which Lu Han didn't exactly appreciate since there was clearly nothing to know, as he calmly sat down in the chair and told the woman where he wanted the piercing.
Lu Han didn't know if he'd been expecting more lead up or what, but he was surprised when the woman wasted no time before puncturing Zitao's ear with the long and intimidating looking needle.
“Fuck, they just stab it right in there. Goddamn,” Lu Han observed.
To his credit, Zitao barely winced- holding still as the woman replaced the needle with the silver stud he'd chosen and that was that.
Zitao admired the new earring in the handheld mirror the woman handed him, looking pleased with the latest hole in his ear.
Lu Han tried not to panic.
He and Zitao switched spots at the woman's urging and Lu Han sat on his hands to make sure they weren't shaking.
“You okay?” Zitao asked with a warm hand on his shoulder.
“Fine,” Lu Han replied, looking at Zitao like it was a ridiculous question considering just how fine he was.
He was the manly one, for god's sake! Zitao was the one who got emotional over movies and screamed like a little girl when a bug got near him. He could do this. If Zitao could do this, so could he.
“Hold my hand?” Zitao offered, holding out his hand, palm up.
Lu Han grumbled, but obliged, pulling his sweaty hand out from under his thigh to grab hold of Zitao's, grateful for the comforting squeeze.
After giving the 'okay' on where he wanted it, Lu Han sucked in a breath- anticipating the pain.
It hurt. It was a needle puncturing his ear and coming out the other side. It hurt. He knew he winced.
But...it wasn't too bad, all things considered.
“That's it?” he asked as the woman screwed the back onto the earring in his ear.
“Yep!” Zitao told him, grinning and leaning over to admire the new stud adorning Lu Han's ear, “It looks really good!”
They paid and then took their leave, Zitao practically bouncing as they walked down the street.
“I'm so happy!” Zitao announced unnecessarily, briefly stopping in front of a darkened store front to admire his new piercing in the window.
“I can tell,” Lu Han told him with a wry grin.
“You were so brave!” Zitao gushed, grabbing Lu Han's hand and smiling sappily at him.
“Jesus, I'm not a child,” Lu Han grumbled, but Zitao merely laughed and squeezed his hand.
Lu Han winced at a stab of pain as his ear throbbed.
“Does yours hurt?” he wanted to know. He just needed to make sure the pain was normal and he wasn't about to die, or something.
“Yeah, it's sore,” Zitao said easily, “Why? Does yours hurt?”
“A little,” Lu Han shrugged, not wanting to be a whiner.
“Aw,” Zitao cooed, just a little taunting, “How about I fuck it better when we get home?”
Lu Han scowled, “You're going to fuck my ear?”
Zitao laughed, hitting Lu Han on the shoulder with a roll of his eyes, “You know what I mean.”
Lu Han scoffed even as Zitao continued to laugh at him, but in all honesty, he was not at all opposed to Zitao's idea. It'd be a perfect end to a...well, to an eventful day, at least.
- Loosely inspired by getting cartilage piercings with Lonio. To be fair, Lonio was braver than Lu Han ♥
- Titled after the Christina Perri song of the same name.
- Comments will ease the pain of Lonio's and my fresh piercings~
