a/n: this was meant to be smut...but idk what happened...um, i hope you enjoy it anyway!
that this was a bad idea. She could lie and say that she had only wanted to help out a friend and the fact that this was all so awkward was a complete surprise to her, but really- who was she fooling?
Alright, so she had
wanted to help out a friend. If friend meant girl-whom-she-was-so-in-love-with-she-co
uldn’t-see-straight. Then yeah, a friend. But her intentions had been good. Really
. When Minjung had asked her if she’d pose for her photography final, she’d immediately said yes. When did she ever
say no to Minjung anyway? But then the other girl had told her what exactly she was meant to do. And that…hadn’t been what she’d been expecting.
Minjung was an avid horror movie fan, so for her final project, she’d decided to re-create scenes from classic horror movies. But instead of asking Taeyeon to act out a scene from the Exorcist (apparently Junghee was cast for that role), Silence of the Lambs (Eunsook had already been asked), or Carrie (evidently Minjung had some sadistic urge to pour fake blood all over the always-perfect Gwiboon), she wanted her to be the model for her photograph inspired by Psycho. And what scene did she want her to recreate? Well, the shower scene obviously.
Of course it would just be her bare shoulders or perhaps bare back that would show up in the photos, but that meant that she had to be topless for the shoot, even if she was allowed to cover herself with her arms. And that…that would be problematic.
Even though Taeyeon knew that posing topless for Minjung would be a bad idea, she couldn’t back out now- finals week was too close and she didn’t want to let the other girl down. So she resigned herself to her fate. Plus, she couldn’t deny that the idea of being half naked with the girl she had feelings for gave her butterflies when she thought about it- though she’d never admit it out loud.
So here she was, standing under a spray of lukewarm water in a pair of bikini bottoms with her arms wrapped around herself, desperately shielding her chest from the dark eyes of the photographer. And though there were goose bumps rising on the flesh of her arms, her face was burning with embarrassment. She had never felt so naked before. And that feeling of total vulnerability was doing things to her rational mind and making her almost dizzy with how much she wanted the other girl.
“Okay, turn your back to me and act like you’re washing your hair,” Minjung instructed, peering through the viewfinder of her camera. Taeyeon stiffly turned around and hesitantly dropped her arms to her sides, feeling the water hitting her naked flesh.
“Put your hands in your hair or something,” Minjung said, still strictly professional. Taeyeon obliged, raising her arms and combing her fingers through her damp locks, trying to imagine that she was working conditioner through the strands. She heard the shutter click a few times behind her.
“Now look over your shoulder like you heard something.” Taeyeon turned her head carefully, making sure not to rotate her upper body, and stared at the corner of the bathroom with wide eyes. Minjung clicked the shutter.
“Great,” she could hear the excitement in Minjung’s voice, a sign that she was happy with the way the shoot was turning out, “Now turn around and scream.”
“S-scream?” Taeyeon stuttered, “Like…actually
“Hm…” Minjung furrowed her brows as though she hadn’t quite thought of that, “Maybe not…I don’t want the neighbors to think I’m killing someone,” she laughed, “Just…pretend to?”
Taeyeon nodded, arms wrapped protectively around herself as she turned and tried to pretend to scream, hoping that it looked realistic enough. She heard the shutter click about five times as she mock-screamed again and again, trying to vary her technique slightly in hopes that something would work.
“That looks really good,” Minjung told her, lowering the camera, though Taeyeon could hear the ‘but’ in the sentence.
“Um…I can tell that your arms aren’t at your sides…it’s kinda obvious that you’re…um…covering yourself…” Minjung’s cheeks were pink as she explained the problem, but Taeyeon was positive that her’s were much more flushed.
“Oh…” Taeyeon’s arms reflexively tightened, “So…do you want…” she trailed off, unable to complete the thought. Normally, she wouldn’t have had a problem with the situation- they were both girls after all and if any of her other friends had wanted her to drop her arms, she would have without much of a second thought. But…this was Minjung and the idea of her looking at her boobs…well…that was a completely different situation.
“Yeah…um…could you?” Minjung was studying her camera, looking completely embarrassed and guilty for having to ask. Taeyeon knew that she had to put her own issues aside and just do what the other girl asked- it was her project after all and she didn’t want her modesty to be the reason the shots didn’t come out like she’d wanted.
“O-okay,” she stuttered, cheeks on fire, as she dropped her arms- the cool air of the bathroom seeming even colder against her skin now. She watched Minjung’s head come up, her eyes sliding up her body and noticeably hitching on her chest, even though she flicked her eyes up to Taeyeon’s beet red face as soon as she’d caught herself, blush evident on her cheeks as well.
“Thanks,” she cleared her throat, bringing the camera back up and re-framing the shot, “Pretend to scream again.”
Taeyeon did as she was told, but the way that the other girl’s eyes had lingered over her breasts was distracting her so much that she wondered if it looked like she was screaming at all. Though Minjung didn’t seem to be faring much better- her once steady hands shaking as she tried to hold the camera still.
Finally Minjung let out a surge of frustrated air and lowered the camera, staring irately at the floor beneath her feet. She was obviously frustrated and Taeyeon immediately felt guilty for letting her personal problems get in the way of what she was supposed to be doing.
,” she burst out, hands clenched into fists at her sides, “I-I’ll do better. I’ll try again!” Minjung looked up, confusion in her eyes.
“I know that I wasn’t…um…pretending to scream as well as I was before…I was just distracted I guess,” she flushed harder, “But I’ll focus, I promise. I’ll stand here until you get the perfect shot. I-”
“Taeyeon,” Minjung finally interrupted her, “You’re doing a great job. It’s my fault that…it’s my fault. I should have known that I wouldn’t be able to focus with you…um…” she trailed off, staring at the floor again. Taeyeon studied the bent head of the other girl, having no idea what she was talking about.
“What do you-”
“I love you,” Minjung suddenly said, head shooting up.
“Now is obviously not the time, but I love you. I have had a ridiculous crush on you since we met and it’s totally inappropriate, but I never meant for you to find out…” Minjung set her camera on the bathroom counter and sighed, “I’m sorry. You can…put your clothes back on now,” she blushed darker, picking at her nails. Taeyeon didn’t know whether to cover herself up, leap across the room and tackle the other girl, or just start laughing. So she hastily climbed out of the shower and pulled her white t-shirt on before she stood in front of Minjung, her heart in her throat.
“Unnie?” she started, waiting until Minjung’s eyes met hers, “I-I love you too.” Taeyeon felt like she’d just unloaded a heavy weight from her shoulders, even if she was shaking with nerves at the confession.
Before she had a chance to start rambling and trying to explain herself- as if I love you
was a complex sentence- she felt Minjung’s warm hands cupping her cheeks, the other girl’s deep eyes staring into hers with so much intensity that she thought she might wither under the gaze and die happily. But instead, she felt Minjung’s lips against hers- soft but insistent- and she felt herself melt, her body pressing against Minjung’s and suddenly, she wasn’t so chilly despite the water droplets clinging to her skin and soaking through her shirt.
She broke the kiss and looked up at the other girl through her wet lashes, unable to stop the grin from spreading across her face as Minjung pushed a wet strand of hair behind her ear.
“I like this ending much better than the one in the movie,” Taeyeon smiled, her heart fluttering happily in her chest. Minjung laughed, shaking her head.
“Taeyeon, that’s not much of a compliment considering Vera Miles dies
at the end of the scene…”
Taeyeon pouted and opened her mouth to retort, but before she could say anything, Minjung was kissing her again. And she’d much rather kiss back than argue about the relevance of her statement. Minjung would win anyway.
