Summary: Jinyoung is amazed by Junghwan's voice. Junghwan is...pretty confused, to be honest.
a/n: This is really weird. I don't even know. But lishalishalisha encouraged me so it's all her fault.
Jinyoung turned the TV off after Immortal Song ended, staring at the black screen in awe. They'd done so well. Actually, he was really only thinking about Junghwan at the moment, but that was true a lot of the time.
The younger boy really made singing look effortless- like the high notes were no big deal. Jinyoung had rarely heard Junghwan struggle to hit a note. And he'd never heard him sound strained during a live performance. Jinyoung had always admired his voice, but sometimes even he forgot how talented Junghwan was with how easy he made it seem.
Jinyoung just sat there replaying the performance in his head, picturing Junghwan as he sang- passionate and at ease.
When the door of their dorm opened, it startled him.
Junghwan walked in, dropping his backpack on the floor with a thud and making himself comfortable on the couch next to a still-silent Jinyoung.
“What are you doing, hyung?” Junghwan asked, “The TV isn't even on.”
“I watched your performance on Immortal Song,” Jinyoung replied, choosing to skip the part about how he was just daydreaming about Junghwan at that point, “It was really good.”
Junghwan's face immediately lit up at the praise, “Really? You liked it?”
“You were amazing,” Jinyoung admitted, watching as Junghwan's cheeks colored even as he seemed to puff up his chest in pride.
“Thank you, hyung,” he said, beaming at his older band mate.
“Really,” Jinyoung went on, unable to stop himself from gushing, “Your voice...I can't even describe it. You just make it look so easy.”
Junghwan was fully blushing by that point, fidgeting nervously as Jinyoung's eyes stayed on his face.
And then, before either of them had really prepared for it, Jinyoung leaned over and pressed his lips to Junghwan's, keeping the contact for a few seconds before pulling away.
“What...what was that for?” Junghwan gasped, eyes wide and cheeks still pink.
“I wanted to,” Jinyoung supplied, “And I thought that maybe if I kissed you, I could inhale your voice and feel it vibrate in my chest.”
When Junghwan just stared at him, Jinyoung continued.
“Like the sea witch in The Little Mermaid,” he explained, “But with more kissing and less tentacles.”
Ironically, Junghwan somewhat resembled a fish at that moment- mouth opening and closing uselessly as he tried to find something to say.
“Hyung,” he finally began when Jinyoung just watched him, anticipating a response, “I don't think that's how that wor-”
“Or there could be tentacles, I guess,” Jinyoung mused, interrupting Junghwan, “I mean if you want. I was on Baro's computer one time and I saw-”
Junghwan's eyes widened when he realized what Jinyoung was talking about.
“No! No. No, that's...no,” he shook his head frantically, hoping that this line of conversation would come to an end. Like, now.
“Okay,” Jinyoung smiled, “I don't know how that would have worked any-”
“Right,” Junghwan interrupted, “So...”
“Let's go out!” Jinyoung suggested, grinning enthusiastically since Junghwan didn't seem to be opposed to the kissing.
“Sure! Why not?”
“Hyung, we can't just go out. Fans will recognize us,” Junghwan reminded him.
“Oh...” Jinyoung paused, “Let's go to the kitchen!”
“We can have a date in the kitchen,” Jinyoung declared, “We can eat ramen and tell the other members not to come in.”
“Okay...” Junghwan wasn't quite sure that sitting in the kitchen counted as a date, but he didn't seem to have much of a choice. Jinyoung hadn't even given him a chance to tell him if he even wanted to go on a date or not. Fortunately, the idea of a date with Jinyoung had his stomach doing somersaults and his heart thumping in his ears. Except that they were just going to the kitchen. So that was...Junghwan didn't even know.
He got up to follow Jinyoung into the other room only to walk directly into the older boy's back when he stopped suddenly.
But then Jinyoung had turned around to kiss him again- fingers sliding through the hair at the nape of Junghwan's neck. And this time Junghwan definitely kissed back.
Jinyoung smiled against his lips. He might not have Junghwan's voice, but this was probably better anyway.
