Chanyeol was always draped all over somebody- all long limbs and warm hands and smiles. That was just the way she was. Everyone had long ago gotten used to it and didn't even bat an eye when they found themselves with all five feet, nine inches of Chanyeol leaning against them or suddenly hugging them or trying to climb onto their laps (too heavy!
gasped as Chanyeol laughed and wriggled around).
Well, everyone was used to it except Baekhyun. Despite the fact that Chanyeol was actually Baekhyun's best friend. It was just that she wasn't a very touchy person by nature. But Chanyeol seemed determined to change that.
And she'd succeeded to some extent. Baekhyun had taken to sometimes resting her hand on Chanyeol's thigh when they were sitting next to each other, squished onto the couch at Sehun's house with two other girls. Baekhyun didn't even shake Chanyeol's gangly limbs off her when Chanyeol would drape her arms over Baekhyun's shoulders from behind.
But even if she was outwardly stoic when such an event occurred, there was a fluttering in her stomach and an increase in heart rate that she couldn't ignore.
It was just because she wasn't used to being touched so much, Baekhyun told herself. And that was also why, when her fingers would brush Chanyeol's when she handed her a bottle of water or her glasses or a pen when Chanyeol had forgotten hers in their shared literature class (almost every day, honestly), she'd feel a jolt go through her body- shooting up her arm, to her heart, and then her lower abdomen in a way that she was determined to ignore.
“We should get drunk together before we go to college,” Baekhyun said one day before she could think over what she'd suggested. She and Chanyeol had both drank before (though not extensively), but not with each other.
Chanyeol was nodding enthusiastically though, telling Baekhyun that she could get some blue raspberry vodka and they could mix it with lemonade.
“Sleepover this weekend and we'll do it then,” Chanyeol told her before scurrying off to go talk to whoever it was that she was going to get the alcohol from.
Baekhyun blinked, feeling her stomach twisting in on itself.
They both had plastic cups filled with a mix of lemonade and blue raspberry vodka (the mix tasted a lot like candy) gripped in their hands as they watched some horror movie that they hadn't seen before. Except neither of them were paying any attention to the movie- too busy listening to make sure that Chanyeol's mom wasn't going to come downstairs into the basement to check on them.
Neither of them even ended up finishing their drink- too jumpy. And needless to say, neither of them were drunk. The whole plan was pretty much a bust.
Still, there was something that made Baekhyun feel freer- whether it was the small amount of alcohol in her system or the realization that they really were going to college soon, she didn't know. But she couldn't stop her mouth from spitting out whatever it wanted, without her consent.
“Have you ever thought about kissing a girl?” Baekhyun mused, feeling the blood drain from her face as soon as she realized what it was that she'd said, eyes wide when she saw Chanyeol's surprised expression before she looked down at the floor and tried to disappear.
Of all the things to say. Chanyeol knew that Baekhyun had been with a a few guys- had enjoyed being with them- so this was just out of the blue. Baekhyun didn't even realize that she really did think about kissing girls until she'd said it. The brief musings were maybe a little more than brief musings.
“Yeah,” Chanyeol responded and Baekhyun looked up at the other girl so quickly that she nearly gave herself whiplash.
Chanyeol was nodding, thoughtful. She was taking the question seriously in a way that Baekhyun hadn't intended when she'd blurted it out. But now she found herself watching Chanyeol's face, anticipating whatever the next words out of her mouth would be.
“I mean, I kissed Sehun that one time in truth or dare,” she said, “But it was just Sehun. She doesn't really count. And it was just a peck anyway.”
Baekhyun couldn't finish her question with the weight of Chanyeol's big expressive eyes on her, never good at masking her emotions.
Chanyeol reached back to tighten her messy ponytail, reddish brown curls somehow still going in every direction despite the fact that they were contained by a hair tie. Chanyeol swallowed, cheeks blooming pink and Baekhyun could feel Chanyeol's answer without the taller girl having to speak a word.
Baekhyun found her own cheeks reddening as she chewed on her lower lip, unable to break Chanyeol's gaze.
“Um...” Chanyeol said, clearing her throat unnecessarily, “Do you...?”
Baekhyun was nodding before she even consciously processed the question.
Chanyeol scooted closer to Baekhyun on the couch, eyes still on Baekhyun's and making the smaller girl shiver. The moment before their lips met seemed to leave them suspended in time, knowing that this was going to change everything. And then suddenly time was moving forward again and Chanyeol's warm lips were pressed against her own and she was reaching up to grab onto Chanyeol's shoulders as the other girl grasped her waist with her big hands.
Baekhyun could feel herself trembling as she moved so they were pressed together before she gave up trying to act like she didn't want to inhale the other girl and just climbed onto Chanyeol's lap, straddling her thighs and pressing their mouths more insistently together.
Tongues sliding together, Baekhyun eagerly swallowed the moan that vibrated in the back of Chanyeol's throat. Her hands were cradling the taller girl's face now, shivering with every stroke of Chanyeol's hands down her sides through the thin cotton of the tank top she always wore to bed.
Baekhyun finally pulled back, lips slick with spit- just as shiny and puffy as Chanyeol's she expected- and just breathed, eyes locked with Chanyeol's. They seemed to inhale together, and Baekhyun felt that she could see her own feelings mirrored on Chanyeol's face.
The reality of what happened was settling over them like a thick mist that they breathed in. Baekhyun was very aware of the fact that she was on her best friend's lap in her ratty pajamas with no makeup on and her hair just pulled back messily, her lips tingling from the feeling of Chanyeol's pressed against them. Everything about it seemed so wrong- so backwards. But at the same time, she could feel her heart bursting and rejoicing at the fact that she had finally given in to what she'd wanted for so long, even if she hadn't known that she'd wanted it.
Baekhyun felt herself beginning to smile at the absurdity of it all- at the giddiness she felt bubbling in her chest- and she watched as Chanyeol's lips stretched into a grin almost immediately in response until they were both hunched over and laughing into each other's necks- hot breath puffing against skin with each chuckle that escaped.
“Well, that was different,” Chanyeol said when the giggles had died down, fingers pressing into the nape of Baekhyun's neck in a way that had Baekhyun nearly purring in approval.
Baekhyun snorted, “It was.”
And Baekhyun could see the question on Chanyeol's lips- can we do it again?
So before she could ask, Baekhyun leaned in and kissed her- feeling warmth spreading through her body as Chanyeol kissed her back.
The feel of Chanyeol's fingers running over the bare skin of her arms still sent a jolt through her body, but Baekhyun figured that she'd have a lot of time to get used to being touched like this. As long as it was Chanyeol.
